The NVO's tools allow astronomers and the general public around the world to
access high-quality data over the Internet.
The links below will take you to each tool (they will open in a new window).
The links in the left-hand frame will take you to the virtualobservatory.org help pages
for each tool.
DataScope |
The DataScope is NVO's online version of a "telescope." Enter any object name or
sky position to "point" the DataScope at that object or position. The DataScope will
return all the data for the object that the NVO can discover. |
Registry
|
The Registry is the Yellow Pages of the NVO. You can search for astronomical
resources - surveys (like the Sloan Digital Sky Survey), catalogs (like the Messier
Catalog), or other datasets. |
Spectrum services
|
Spectrum Services is the NVO's tool for viewing and analyzing spectra. You
can search for spectra by position, or by the survey that measured them. You can then
graph several spectra on the same axes, or save them to a My Spectra database. |
OpenSkyQuery |
OpenSkyQuery is the tool to use for comparing datasets. You can find objects
that appear in two or more datasets, and can constrain your search to return
only certain types and magnitudes of objects. |
